HW Edoku Administers Oath for New URSB Board Member
HW John Paul Edoku, Registrar for Planning, Research and Development, earlier today administered the oath of office of Mr. Deogratius Masagazi, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
The ceremony was held at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre in Kololo and was chaired by the Board Chairman, Mr. Francis Butagira, who welcomed the new member and expressed confidence in his contribution to the Board. He noted that Mr. Masagazi joins the Bureau at a critical time as it advances its strategic planning agenda.
Ambassador Butagira underscored the importance of integrity in the execution of Board duties, urging members to remain steadfast and avoid any form of temptation. He further highlighted the Bureau's recent strides, including mass business registration initiatives aimed at transitioning enterprises from the informal to the formal sector, as well as reforms in geographical indications to safeguard authentic products such as shea butter from Northern Uganda.
Administering the oath, HW Edoku emphasized the significance of URSB's mandate, noting that Board members are expected to serve with integrity, professionalism, commitment, and passion. He reminded the new member that the functions and responsibilities of the Board are clearly outlined in the URSB Act, which provides a framework for diligent and accountable service. He cautioned against corruption and called for strict adherence to ethical standards.
In his remarks, the Ag. Registrar General, Mr Ntale Mustapher, warmly welcomed Mr. Masagazi to the Board and assured him of management’s full support. He expressed optimism that the new member would provide valuable strategic guidance to the institution.
The ceremony was witnessed by members of the Board and URSB management.
